What I'm up to these days:
My new opera-film collaboration with Adam Taylor, Rumspringawakening, is out now! Check out Schmopera’s coverage, and watch on YouTube.
Our first collaboration, Someone Like Me (L'opera di Facebook) has amassed over 7k views on YouTube so far. (You can find all production details on IMDb.)
My 20-minute piece for Washington National Opera, written with librettist Megan Cohen, had a successful premiere at the Kennedy Center in January 2018, and was staged again in November by Hartford Opera Theater. (You can find more info about the work here.) An orchestral suite premiered at the University of Connecticut in May 2019.
Last summer I joined a chorus of monks (the Grammy-nominated Clarion Choir) in a performance with Madonna at the 2018 Met Gala. Read about it in: Billboard, Vogue, Time, Vanity Fair (1, 2, 3), NY Times, E! Online. Watch the official video on YouTube, or this multi-angle compilation sourced from attendees' Instagram clips, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).
In April 2018, the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston hosted the premiere screening of The Shape of Destiny, for which I wrote and supervised the music.
After graduating from Mannes with my MM degree in May 2017, I joined the Choir of Men & Boys at Saint Thomas Church and served as Editorial Assistant at Boosey & Hawkes for two years. As of Fall 2019, I’m taking up a Hartt Fellowship at the University of Hartford, teaching first-year undergraduate composition lessons while working towards my Doctor of Musical Arts degree. I’m also returning to the choir of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.
